J.M. Construction opens healthy,
energy efficient R-2000 home
Building science behind
healthy, energy efficient home construction to be revealed during
media tour

J.M. Construction will be hosting a media tour and presentation
ceremony at their newest R-2000 house on Monday, July 5, 2004
from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The home is located on Lake
Vernon, west of Huntsville. |
The media tour will:
- Explain the R-2000 Standard and how it ensures that homes
are well built, energy efficient and healthier than homes built
only to the Ontario Building Code.
- Provide a “behind the scenes” look at energy
efficiency and healthy home techniques featured in
the house such as:
- Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF)
- energy efficient windows
- optimal home siting
- a high efficiency propane furnace
- window overhangs
- an HRV, the “lungs of the house”
- recycled pine flooring
The presentation ceremony will feature:
- Peter Love, President of EnerQuality Corporation
which is responsible for the R-2000 program in Ontario, who will
present an R-2000 Certificate for the
home and a Home Heating Guarantee
- Arnie Gallo, Director for Northern Ontario,
Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), will present
J.M. Construction with Healthy Housing™
recognition.
